BIOS: Automatic start - “After power Failure: Power ON”.
Most PCs have an option to boot automatically as soon as the device is supplied with power. This option can be found in the BIOS. Please note that the options may be named differently in your setup. In that case please look up this feature in your PC's manual or ask the manufacturer.
1. Access the BIOS of your PC. Turn on your PC and quickly press the BIOS key that is set up by the manufacturer (press the key that is shown on the screen while booting up - usually it is one of the these keys F1, F2, F10, F12, or DEL)
2. Once you access the BIOS menu, search for the following settings:
“Restore on AC/Power Loss” or “AC Power Recovery” or "After Power Loss".
This setting may be found under the following menus: “Advanced” or “ACPI” or "Power Management Setup".
**The “Restore on AC/Power Loss” setting can be found under different menus inside the BIOS setup according to your computer manufacturer. It might look like this:
Network Settings (Important for API settings on Hintpad)
In order to use the Hintpad network API (i.e. Room Events) and access the Hintpad screens through the network, following steps are needed:
3. In the Settings Window, click on the “Network & Internet” option
4. Below your network connection, ethernet or Wifi, click on “Properties”
5. Inside Properties select “Private”:
Privacy settings
1. Access the Window’s “Settings” menu (see above)
2. In the Settings Window, click on the “Accounts” option:
3. Inside Accounts, click on “Sign-in options” in the left bar of the window
4. Inside “Sign-in options”, scroll down to “Privacy” and turn off the option "Use my sign in info to automatically finish setting up my device after an update or restart."
Disable Windows notifications
To disable notifications that might appear on the screen while Hintpad is running, please follow these steps:
1. Access the Window’s “Settings” menu (see above)
2. In the Settings Window, click on the “System” option:
3. Inside System, click on “Notifications & actions” in the left bar of the window
4. Uncheck all options
Energy Settings
To prevent the computer from going to sleep mode or turning off the screen, please follow these steps:
1. Go once again to the “System” settings (see above)
2. Click on “Power & sleep” in the left bar of the window
3. Turn all the options to “Never”.
Autorun Hintpad software
1. Press the Windows Icon in the task bar and type: “Run”
2. Click on the option that shows:
3. Click and write in the box “shell:startup”. And then press “Ok” to open the startup folder
4. Copy the Hintpad shortcut on your desktop and paste it in the startup folder
