How to install Hintpad on Windows 10/11

Prepare Windows before you install the Hintpad software on your PC

  • Install the latest Windows updates:

           1. Press the Windows Icon in the task bar and type: “Updates”
           
            2. Click on the option that shows:



            3. Then check if there are updates for your device clicking the “Check for updates” button:



4. Install the updates and restart the device


  • Install Java 8 (mandatory to run the Hintpad software)

Option 1: OpenJDK (Open source, does not require a license, can be used for free commercially)

Download OpenJDK here: OpenJDK download

            (OpenJDK installation requires a longer and somewhat tedious procedure, you can follow a
            step-by-step tutorial here)
             Option 2: Oracle Java (free non-commercial license, additional license costs for commercial use)

  • Install Arduino IDE for Controllino support

If you want to use a Controllino you need to make sure it is recognised by the system. The easiest way to do so is to install the Arduino IDE that comes with all drivers that are needed.

Download the latest version of the Arduino IDE here: https://www.arduino.cc/en/software


  • Install Hintpad for Windows
    1. Download the Hintpad installer here: Hintpad Windows Version download
    2. Run the installer and follow the instructions on screen
    3.     Now start the Hintpad software - it will ask you to activate your license:


    4. Open the indicated URL in a browser and enter the license key we sent you in our subscription confirmation email
    5. Restart the software
